The 44-year-previous actor was crowned Best Actor at the Oscar Awards for his role as Ron Woodroof in 'Dallas Buyers Club' last week, however his mum Kay McCabe already considered him a winner thanks to his kind-hearted and well-mannered personality.
She told People magazine: ''Matthew makes me proud as a result of he is terribly humble and sincere and a very thoughtful person. He's just a nice son.''
Kay always knew Matthew - who has kids, Levi, five, Vida, four, and fifteen-month-old son Livingston along with his wife Camila Alves - would build a smart husband and father in the future.
She explained: ''I had no doubt when he set to marry, which he took his time doing, that he would be a thoughtful, trustful husband.''
Although, the previous school teacher credits Matthew's late father James, who died in 1992, for being such a smart role model.
She explained: ''Well, he was cited seeing his dad show these traits, and setting a sensible example is always the most effective teacher.''
