Playing a crafty mistress in her new movie, "Black Comedy", as well as a treacherous stepmother in the upcoming series, "The Apothecary", Shirley Yeung revealed that she has no qualms playing more antagonistic roles since her return to showbiz.
In an interview with HK Channel recently, the actress, who had been absent for two years since the birth of her baby daughter, Kristal, said that she is not worried that her recent negative roles will affect her image.
"I am just thankful to be given this opportunity to return to acting," said Shirley. "I want to try every kind of role there is, and hope that I will get to participate in various movies and TV dramas."
The actress, who will also be seen this month in the new TVB series, "ICAC Investigator 2014", said that she is determined to do all she can to support her family, even if it means playing more negative roles.
"Life still goes on," said the actress. "I always tell myself to be strong."
When asked if she has any regrets raising her daughter on her own and facing the stigma society has on an unmarried parent, Shirley replied, "I have no regrets whatsoever. A lot of people want to have children but can't due to various factors, but I have my daughter. So what more can I ask for?"
